About The Sugar Clouds

The Sugar Clouds are a Detroit-based band crafting a vibrant, eclectic sound that weaves psychedelic garage rock, indie pop, folk, and electro influences into an irresistibly catchy and imaginative whole. Born from the post-divorce creative partnership of songwriter Greg and Melissa Host (formerly known as The Hosts (Detroit)), the group has evolved into a full ensemble featuring some of the Motor City’s sharpest musicians. With jangly 60s-inspired psych-pop melodies, garage edge, and folk-hearted storytelling, they deliver indie pop for the perspicacious—smart, playful, and unapologetically fun. From their latest record to live shows that light up local venues like The Crofoot and The Lager House, The Sugar Clouds continue to embody Detroit’s resilient, inventive spirit while floating their own sweet, hazy clouds of sound across the airwaves and stages.

“The Sugar Clouds are not as sweet as their name suggests. Indie-pop meets psychedelic-rock, wrapped in folk, burst into a tall, dark, and fuzzy combination of magic. We can’t get enough of them! Find out more here!”

“THE SUGAR CLOUDS With all the right ‘60s and ‘90s influences in check, this funky and fresh act (formerly the Hosts) has real star power. Like Smash Mouth, their music should be played in sports stadiums worldwide.”
